SONOROUS ALICANTE

Each city has its own voice and over time has selected and modulated its own sonorities. Sound not only provides us with information about everyday life, it also allows us to get to know the emotions that live in it, the memories, our own unique memory, the result of an unrepeatable mixture of sounds.

The aim of the Alicante Sonora project was to collect this sound memory. The sound of the waves on the Postiguet beach, the urban sound mix collected from the Santa Bárbara castle as well as the traffic noises or the voices of the street markets are part of this memory. All of them were transferred to an artistic action with performers and audiovisual media developed in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante, whose architectural design is ideal for proposals of interaction between music and architecture.

In this artistic proposal, two performers dialogue and guide the route, raising the question of the perception of the everyday, the lived, the remembered. The differences between in situ experience, virtual experience and memories. All this leads to a debate on art, creation and forms of knowledge.

As a result of this project, a collective sound cartography was made. You can visit it here:
